It’s Back! The SACARE Carers Lounge Returns to the Historic 2024 Royal Adelaide Show!

Are you ready for the ultimate show experience? We guarantee peace of mind with our disability and sensory space.

The much-loved SACARE Carers Lounge is making a return to the Royal Adelaide Show in 2024, bringing back its unique and welcoming space for people living with disabilities, their carers and loved ones.

For its third year, The Carers Lounge is here to provide a calming, private, and hygienic environment for the South Australian Disability Community. Navigating the Show can be difficult, especially for people using mobility equipment, finding suitable spaces for administrating medications, or meeting special feeding requirements. Previously, the difficulty of accommodating these needs meant that some families chose to stay home. Here’s what one of our visitors had to say…

Testimonial from Kate - Disability Support Worker

"This space gives people dignity. Here they can be like everyone else and go and have their needs seen to. We (able-bodied people) take for granted that we have spaces that we can utilise, now people who need care are no longer limited in what they can do to enjoy the event like everyone else” says Kate.

A Calming Place for Comfort and Care

Located within the Vili’s Dog Pavilion, the Carers Lounge provides a quiet, insular area complete with an interactive sensory room. This space offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the Show, allowing families and carers to take a break and care for their loved one’s needs in a dignified manner. Adjacent to the sensory room is a private area for administering medications and special feeding requirements, ensuring privacy and comfort.

Across the foyer, you’ll find a purpose-built accessible changing space, featuring a height-adjustable change table, hoist, and a separate accessible toilet. These amenities are designed with both carers and people living with disabilities in mind, providing a clean and comfortable space to tend to personal needs.

The Carers Lounge Disability and Sensory Space

From August 31 to September 8, The Carers Lounge is here to deliver peace of mind with spaces for both carers and people living with disabilities, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable experience amidst the show spectacles – all staffed by SACARE.

The SACARE Carers Lounge represents a collaboration between the Royal Adelaide Show and SACARE, aiming to bring inclusivity to this cherished annual event.
