Your Pathway to Becoming an Occupational Therapist with SACARE

Are you ready to embark on an inspiring career in Occupational Therapy? At SACARE, we believe in nurturing talent and providing our team members with the resources and support they need to thrive.

Our comprehensive Allied Health Induction Program is designed to help you transition smoothly into your role and achieve professional excellence. Let's take a closer look at what you can expect on this exciting journey.

Welcome to the SACARE Allied Health Induction Program! As a new member of our team, you'll receive structured guidance, and resources tailored to support your growth and success in the field of occupational therapy.

Weekly Supervision

  • Engage in weekly supervision with a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) to ensure continuous learning and professional growth.

Gradual Caseload

  • For the first six months, you won’t have any Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to meet. This period allows you to gradually build your caseload with the support of senior staff, ensuring a smooth transition into your role.

Professional Development

  • Benefit from a flexible, goal-oriented professional development budget to help you pursue and develop your passion areas within the field.

Timetable Flexibility

  • Enjoy the freedom to set your own working hours and take charge of your schedule. You can work remotely and create a customised caseload that aligns with your expertise and interests.

Your journey with SACARE begins with a comprehensive induction schedule, designed to immerse you in our culture, values, and systems. Here's a week-by-week breakdown of your initial training and integration:

Week 1: Introduction to our culture, values, routines, IT systems, communication platforms, and the client journey. Receive training on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and participate in observational sessions with multidisciplinary therapists.

Weeks 2-3: Continue observational sessions, delve deeper into resources, and gradually meet potential clients. Receive support with assessment and report writing.

Weeks 4-6: Attend joint appointments with a senior clinician, participate in weekly reflective practice and supervision sessions, and benefit from unlimited mentoring. Set personal and professional goals as you continue self-directed learning.

In your first year at SACARE, you'll find comprehensive support and development opportunities designed to foster your growth and success. From structured supervision to professional development, we are committed to helping you thrive.

Months 1-6: Engage in weekly one-hour formal supervision with a senior OT, access external clinical supervision, and participate in peer review. Work without KPIs or billable targets, and gradually build your caseload. Join fortnightly peer supervision and multidisciplinary team meetings and participate in planned professional development days.

Months 6-12: Continue with fortnightly one-hour supervision sessions and external clinical supervision as needed. Manage a caseload with 5.5 billable hours per day, focusing on cultural alignment and quality service delivery. Continue engaging in peer supervision, team meetings, and professional development.
