Accelerating Inclusion: The SACARE Carer's Lounge Races into Adelaide 500!

Buckle up, race enthusiasts and supporters of inclusivity alike, because SACARE is excited to take the VAILO500 Racing Event to a whole new level!

Following the outstanding attendee feedback and success of the Royal Adelaide Show, SACARE is now collaborating with VAILO500 to drive inclusivity and accessibility right into the heart of the action - at this year's season finale event for the Repco Supercars Championship in Adelaide!

Revving up for a Groundbreaking Collaboration

The excitement of high-speed races and the roar of engines can now be enjoyed by everyone. With a dedicated space that caters to the medical and bathroom needs of attendees living with disability, right in the midst of the VAILO Adelaide 500 festivities. The Adelaide 500 is Australia’s largest domestic ticketed motorsport event and will be open for all to enjoy from 23 to 26 November 2023.

A Pit Stop for Inclusivity

The SACARE Carers Lounge is a game-changer. The spacious 'pod' –  is a state-of-the-art change room facility, equipped with a height-adjustable change table and hoist, providing a dignified and hygienic space for personal care. This isn't just about meeting basic needs–it's about offering a space that respects the dignity of every individual.

Breaking Barriers At Adelaide 500

The concept was born from a collaboration between Jake's carer and mother, Karina McDonald, and Chloe Kempe, SACARE's Chief Operating Officer. Jake, an 8-year-old Adelaide boy, enjoys live events, music, and connecting with people. However, living with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy brings unique challenges. He relies on round-the-clock assistance for mobility, feeding, and communication.

On his outings, Jake has faced the less-than-ideal situation of being fed in public places or even worse, in a bathroom. There's been no proper place to clean his feeding equipment afterward. Changing facilities often present discomfort, with cold, unsanitary floors even in spaces labeled as 'accessible.'

Where Every Fan Finds A Seat

There are some fans of racing who require medication, specialised breathing support, or extra attention to sensory sensitivities.

Chloe Kempe recognised the need for a dedicated space not only for Jake but for the entire disability community. This space ensures that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can revel in the event's excitement.

Experience the Future of Motorsport Accessibility

SACARE's commitment to the disability community spans 28 years, and this collaboration is a testament to our dedication. The SACARE Carers Lounge isn't just about convenience; it's about empowerment and inclusion. It's about creating a space where everyone's voice is heard, and everyone's needs are met.

As the VAILO500 Racing Event hurtles towards us, get ready to experience motorsport on a whole new level. The SACARE Carers Lounge will make its debut from 8am to 6pm every day of the race. Get ready to be part of a revolution that's about more than just racing–it's about making events like these accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
