Community Accommodation

SACARE created their Community Accommodation service to offer people with disabilities the opportunity to live independently in the community in a home of their own.

Our Community Accommodation allows individuals to live independently, often removing the need for institutionalisation, and providing support on-hand 24 hours a day. The SACARE team provide care and mentoring to our residents to help them achieve the best version of their lives, and own their future.

‘At SACARE we are focussed on person-centred solutions, finding tailored resolutions to their individual needs, regardless of where they live or who they live with. This is so important because every disability is as individual as the person,’ states Alyson Rogers, Supported Accommodation Manager - Community.

The SACARE approach to community accommodation options is unique: we assess the needs of the person and find or create alternatives that best suits their needs.

Currently SACARE’s Community Homes include:

Wellington Square, North Adelaide  Our Wellington Square house offers four bedrooms with SACARE staff onsite to ensure there is support 24/7 to the residents. With its welcoming atmosphere staff often comment that it feels like a second home for them also.

Elm St, Medindie  Our Elm St property is a four bedroom home, providing 24/7 support to residents. These residents can live independently in this lovely share-home, knowing that support is to hand whenever they need it.

Eutopia Rise, Kilburn  (1 VACANCY) This complex has ten apartments, with eight dedicated to residents and providing a great deal of privacy and independence. Another is used for communal gathering; cooking, socialising, playing games and get-togethers. The tenth houses the SACARE team, onsite 24 hours a day providing discrete but engaged support when the residents need this.

This accommodation setting is suitable for participants who have a psycho-social disability.

Our Eutopia Rise units were named by one of the residents, John Mukavec, after a ballot took place. When Alyson asked ‘why the name Eutopia Rise’ John told her that Eutopia meant ‘perfect paradise, a place in which human society and natural conditions are so ideally perfect that there is complete contentment’.

The Parade, Kensington Gardens This Kensington Gardens property offers four bedrooms with additional independent onsite accommodation. The property offers onsite care attendance 24 hours a day, and the main house offers character living for residents with low complex disabilities.
