SACARE and ONCALL Sponsor Victim Support Service SA National Disability Conference

SACARE and ONCALL Group Australia are proud to announce their sponsorship of the Victim Support Service (VSS) National Conference.

The digital conference will be held online on Friday, May 26, 2023. Bringing together leading Australian experts in victimology and disability, including policymakers, sector stakeholders, and people with lived experience, will allow the opportunity to explore access to justice issues for victim-survivors with disability across Australia.

Safer Spaces for People with Disability in Australia

The theme of the conference is “Safer Spaces for People with Disability in Australia–Reporting crime and abuse” and will provide a platform for participants to discuss the current situation, challenges, and advancements relating to disclosure and reporting of violence, abuse, and neglect for people with disability.

A national focus and including speakers from various states and territories, they will structure it with topic specific sessions, providing participants the opportunity to focus on subject areas from their own knowledge, research, and experience.

Open invitation for everyone to get involved

Invitations for attendance are to those with lived experience, academics, social workers, counsellors, legal workers, practitioners, police officers, and any interested parties or professionals who are engaged in supporting people with disability who are victim-survivors of crime and abuse.

Victim Support Service (VSS) South Australia is the peak body representing and providing services to victim-survivors of crime and abuse in South Australia. VSS is a state-wide, independent non-government organisation providing support to people affected by crime and abuse since 1979.

A rights-based organisation delivering trauma-informed, person-centred services to victims of crime and abuse, VSS provides systems navigation, information, and warm referrals, as well as Redress Support services for adult survivors of institutional child sexual abuse, and support at Court. Their Volunteer Court Companion Program is now in its 43rd year in South Australia and continues as their foundation program, attracting government and philanthropic funding across SA.

VSS is a leading organisation addressing the trauma associated with crime and abuse. Their purpose is to provide integrated justice support services to victim-survivors, and they are proud to service victims and witnesses in South Australia by campaigning for their rights and helping to improve their experiences of the criminal justice system.

Improving outcomes for vulnerable groups
