Share your interests and help reduce social isolation
The Strong & Capable Peer Mentoring Program aims to reduce social isolation and create opportunities for people with disabilities to build genuine friendships on their own terms.
The program matches people with a disability to a community of lived experience volunteer mentors by shared interests and/or characteristics. The program is self-led and facilitated via digital platforms.
Mentors and Mentees can search through our platform and choose a match that is right for them. People then connect over their shared interests and arrange times to meet face to face or online – this could be as simple as a walk on the beach, connecting online to game together or attending a live music event.
People living with disability aged over 18 years located in South Australia are invited to join the program and can participate as both mentees and mentors. Our hope is to see many people living with disability recognise they have the skills to become a mentor and play a valuable role in support people with a disability to lead a full life.
If you are interested in finding a way to spend more time doing the things you find fun in a safe & welcoming space, then come along and try Peer Mentoring at one of the upcoming activities. Click the button below to learn more about "Come & Try Peer Mentoring" and lock in your spot today!
