"A year of exciting developments and initiatives for sacare" - A Quarterly Review from sacare's CEO Chloe Kempe.

This year has certainly been a year of exciting new initiatives and developments for sacare. The highlight so far has been hosting the Carer’s Lounge at the Royal Adelaide Show.

To witness first-hand the impact on families, carers, and participants in providing them a sensory space, feeding and equipment cleaning area, and a private, comfortable setting for complex changes motivates us to continue to push for change in public spaces.

Feedback and stories shared by the public users of the lounge were emotional and thought provoking. Understanding how this small offering enabled them to enjoy every aspect of the Show with their loved ones made it so worthwhile. For such a simple concept, it still astounds me that these facilities aren’t available at all public events as a basic standard.

The sacare and Royal Adelaide Show Project team were exceptional in their delivery of the vision and their commitment to grow and develop the concept into the next year. A huge thank you to everyone for pulling it all together and our team at sacare continuing to lead the way in innovative outcomes for the disability community in South Australia.

Succeeding the Adelaide Show initiative is the exciting announcement of our national partnership with OnCall Group, Australia. Months of preparation have shown early benefits to families and participants we support, with staff movements interstate and participants going on holidays with the trust in sacare’s cohesive support nationally.

In continuing to grow the sacare brand as one that supports through every step of an individual’s journey, we’ve partnered with Specialist Disability Accommodation, a provider who finds participants their forever home. Anyone with high physical needs or looking for a new home will now have access to 14 stunning apartments in Salisbury, where sacare will provide our exceptional services.

A change of pace with COVID means ongoing management to minimise its impact on our community and our daily lives. I recognise the incredible efforts, consistent attendance, and dedication to supporting our clients during this time from our team.

The workforce shortages were a constant pressure and I appreciate the adaptive and innovative ways our team sourced and delivered to the increasing needs of our community. We continue to work alongside Government and stakeholders and observe proactive discussions from the government at State and Federal level. Our aim is to continue highlighting issues that our vulnerable community is facing, to stay at the forefront of decision making.

It feels as if the year has flown by again, and 2023 is looking to be just as exciting with plenty of opportunities. I thank each of you for your ongoing commitment to sacare. As always, I love hearing from our community and welcome feedback from you, any time.

To celebrate these outstanding successes, make sure you save the date for our annual End of Year celebration! Zero restrictions, maximum fun, and glamorous, the red-carpet themed event invitation will hit your inbox soon. Keep your eye out. It’s my favourite event and I cannot wait to kick up my heels with everyone.

I’ll be taking a brief break with my very patient family while my teenagers still think I’m cool enough to holiday with!

I’m excited to return refreshed and revived to continue our collaborative efforts to develop and improve the exceptional services we provide in South Australia.

Kindest regards,

Chloe Kempe
