The Path to Becoming a Support Worker with SACARE

Support workers are at the soul of SACARE, they keep the cogs working. Support Workers are the most important role in the service and homes that we provide for our clients.

Have you ever thought for applying for a role with SACARE?
Like any roles with SACARE, available positions will be listed on the ‘WORK WITH US’ page on our website. Be sure to keep an eye on this page, as we keep it up to date and are regularly adding new opportunities.

When we recruit support workers there is a process we go through to make sure that we hire the best of the best. Below is our handy little cheat sheet for what you should expect when applying for the role of a Support Worker with SACARE.

1. Application

The first step is your application. This is the first taste that we get of you. In this case, first impressions are important.

Make sure that if you have list all of you relevant experience on your resume. When it comes to support workers we look for good experience and knowledge above all else.

How to apply? Click here to see what jobs are available, then click "Apply Now" on the job that you'd like to apply for. This will take you to a new page that looks similar to the one above. Read the job description details and click the blue button "Apply Now" in the top right corner.

2. If we like your application, we will get in contact to have a chat with you over the phone.

You’ve already made a good impression, so congrats!
At this stage we make sure that all of your documents are up to date and that you hit all of the important criteria we are after.

3. If you’re all up to date and tick the boxes, you will be invited to an Assessment Center.

What is an Assessment Centre you ask? Well, it’s a day where you come into our head office to learn a bit more about the company, and we can also get to know you better.

On this day we also test your skills and knowledge in a more practical way. So before you come to an Assessment center make sure you scrub up on your clinical knowledge!

You'll watch some videos about SACARE in our cool warehouse office space, followed by some team-work activities, and mini-interviews.

4. After the Assessment Center we will check in with you to let you know how you did.

If you’re successful at this stage, we will then contact your references. Please make sure that your references are up to-date and aware that they may be receiving a call (this makes everything quicker and easier for everyone!).

Make sure your references are reliable, we love Chug the pug, but not sure if he makes a great reference!

 5. Congratulations! If you have made it to this point, your path to becoming a support worker has been successful!

From here we will start with your induction, present you with your SACARE uniform, and get you out and working as soon as possible.

Most important part of your uniform... your smile! The left uniform is for support within the community, and the right uniform is for support workers in the SACARE facilities

Our Human Resource’s Officer, Chelsea has also provided her top tips for when you do apply with SACARE:
